January 11th, 2010
Ever wondered what Paradise is like? In her eighth speech from the Competent Communicator Ma nual, Nandini BalakrishNan, Future CC, took us on a colorful tour of her native province in India. Nandini continues to grow as a public speaker.
Hector Ortiz, Future CC, followed with a heartfelt speech about his commitment to God. This was Hector’s third manual speech. Hector possesses a calm, engaging delivery.
Florence Thompson, Future CC, delivered the third speech of the evening, an ice breaker about a coast to coast bike ride that she described in a fun way. Florence did a great job with her first speech. Evaluations were presented by Ed Spurlock, Future ACS, Mirsa Douglass, Future ACS, and Mike Keenan, ACS.
Katie Walsh led, Future CC,us through a table topic session based on our New Year resolutions.
What a crisp, productive way to kick off the new year!!!

In his third speech from the Special Occassion Advanced Manual, Mike Keenan, ASC, presented a hypothetical award to the employee of the year, Jan Milstead, Future CC, who handled her role nimbly. This is just another of those speeches that Toastmasters prepares us for.
Nandini BalakrishNan, Future CC, toastmastered masterfully. She continues to show progress in her speaking.
Mirsa Douglass handled the table topics role and in doing so explained the role to our guests, three in all.
Ed Spurlock, once again, rendered a precise, insightful evaluation.
You can’t beat toastmasters for value!!!

Ever thought you stereotype people? Paul Cartwight’s (Future CC) fifth manual speech, “Breaking Down Stereotypes” challenged us to think in different terms about others and ourselves.
In her ninth manual speech, “How To Do What You Want To”, Nandini BalakrishNan (Future CC), suggested ways in which discipline can help us achieve our goals.
In his ice breaker, Robert Henry, (Future CC) told us some interesting things about his motivation to make a difference in life by dedicating himself to something bigger.
Mirsa Douglass (Future ASC), Mike Keenan, and Jan Milstead (Future CC) delivered helpful evaluations.
Lila Luce (Future CC) entertained us with a clever round of table topics centered on “sales”.
We had two guests and a crackling good meeting!!!

Do you have a “Perfect Day”? Paul Wenzel, Future CC , told us about his in a well constructed ice breaker. Paul described hiking in France , drinking wine, eating cheese and simply enjoying life. A great beginning!!!
Joni James, Future CC, handled table topics adroitly, while Lila Luce , Future CC, took on the toastmaster role for the first time. Both ladies did a great job.
Mike Keenan , ASC, and Ed Spurlock came in with evaluations.
A well attended, energetic meeting!!

Does time fly or what? In his speech about toastmaster responsibility, Ed Spurlock celebrated the twenty year anniversary of CENTRAL AUSTIN TOASTMASTERS. Twenty Years!!!
Paul Cartwright, Future CC, in his sixth speech from the Competent Communicator Manual, employed vocal variety, eye contact, to talk about leadership using as models, Rosa Parks and the founder of the Honda motorcycle. Pro activity, fortitude were traits these people shared.
Martin Wetzel, Future CC, delivered table topics with a sports theme.

In his second CC speech, “On Walking”, Brian Wenzl, Future CC, gave us the benefits of walking. Brian crafted his speech with a solid beginning, middle, and end.
Nandini BalakrishNan, who earned her CC this night, told us the benefits of telling the truth. In “Strive for Truth” Nandini employed the full menu of toastmasters skills in delivering an accomplished piece of work.
Kate Parker, Future CC, entertained us with a speech aimed at dealing with family, friends, and the holidays.
Mike Keenan, ACS, Lila Luce, Future CC, and Ed Spurlock, ACS, delivered precise, helpful evaluations.
Martin Wetzl, Future CC, held down the toastmaster role.
Mike Keenan, ACS, delivered table topics with an “either /or “ theme about the choices we make.
